Sam Baxter, chief of the Texas Rangers, learns that Scarface Wheeler has been released from prison and is employed as foreman on the Flying X Ranch. Salty gets a job on the Flying X but is fired after saving Betty Hampton from certain death during a roundup. Later, Salty secretly enters the house and overhears Hampton, Betty's supposed uncle, conspire with Scarface to raid Jud Howell's cattle. Salty informs Baxter, who sends deputies after the rustlers, and has several more adventures. The posse returns with Scarface, who turns state's evidence and reveals Hampton as the murderer of Betty's father and of Salty's father. Salty and Betty are united. —AFI

Collins isn't done yet, though, as a gold shipment sent on one of his stages is stolen by Parnell and Clint, one of whom is recognized by Jessie, attempting to escape back to the west coast. Collins has his hands full trying to retrieve the stolen gold, and dealing with Jessie, who's fallen head-over-heels in love with him.
Cattle detective, Rocky Lane, arrives in town to investigate cattle disappearances only to realize just three cows owned by eccentric inventor, Nugget Clark, are involved. However, the disappearances lead to a deeper mystery involving dynamite explosions, rampaging cowboys and a water shortage.

Though blind during his capture, he nevertheless recognizes the voice of The Eagle in McElroy, a leading banker. After another escape from the gang, Vic manages to save Taggart and Amy from The Eagle's sticky clutches, exposes their operation, and proceeds on course with Amy.
